Honey BBQ Sloppy Joe Recipe With Crispy Onions

Ingredients

For the Sloppy Joes:

– 1 pound ground beef

– 1 onion, chopped

– 1 green bell pepper, chopped

– 1 purple bell pepper, chopped

– 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce

– 1 (15 ounce) can tomato paste

– 1 cup water

– 1 tablespoon honey

– 1 tablespoon brown sugar

– 1 teaspoon chili powder

– 1 teaspoon floor cumin

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 teaspoon black pepper

– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

– Hamburger buns

– Crispy onions, for topping

For the Crispy Onions:

1 yellow onion, very thinly sliced

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons granulated sugar

1 half cup entire milk

1/4 cup vegetable oil, plus extra for greasing the pan

1. Cook floor beef in a big skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces with a picket spoon or potato masher, until not pink; drain grease.

2. Stir in barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.

3. Bring to a simmer; reduce heat to low and cook dinner, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until thickened.

4. Serve on toasted hamburger buns.

1. In a big skillet, warmth 1/2 inch of vegetable oil over medium heat until a sweet thermometer reads 350 degrees F.

2. Line a plate with paper towels.

3. Thinly slice 1 onion. Separate the slices into rings.

4. Dredge the onion rings in flour, shaking off any excess.

5. In a shallow bowl, whisk together half cup of all-purpose flour and half cup of cornstarch.

6. Dip the floured onion rings into the cornstarch mixture, coating them evenly.

7. Carefully drop the onion rings into the new oil.

8. Fry the onion rings for 2-3 minutes per facet, or until they’re golden brown and crispy.

9. Remove the onion rings from the oil and drain them on the paper towel-lined plate.

10. Sprinkle the onion rings with salt.

To Assemble the Sloppy Joes:

-Spread oil on hoagie buns cut-sides up.

-Evenly spread 2 Tbsp of honey-bbq sauce over the top half of 4 buns.

-Place the four halves which have sauce on them beneath the broiler for two minutes, or till golden brown.

-Remove from the oven and turn the broiler to low.

-Place the remaining four buns cut-sides up on the baking sheet topped with the meat mixture.

-Sprinkle with crispy onions.

-Place under the broiler for 5-7 minutes or until the buns are toasted and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Avocado and Egg Toast

-Remove the Sloppy Joe’s from the oven and place the tops on.

-Serve immediately.
